How to Login to your router with IP address

Before trying to access the admin panel of a wireless router set with a IP, check whether this IP is the one written on the actual device as a default configuration. It's very important to verify that you are using the correct IP address for your router, as some routers may have a different default IP address. While doing that, you might want to lookup the default username and password that the vendor has provided and set. Your public IP address is different and is used for accessing internet services outside your local network. Those IPs are generally used on the Internet for connections out of your LAN. And your device even though having only a local IP address like can access all external Internet public IP addresses via your router (serving as a middle-man for all the connections in and out of your computer and/or mobile phones or other devices using the Internet access). By this point you should have full control of the capabilities and settings of your wireless router (presuming it supports WiFi). Resetting a router with IP to factory settings

There are two ways to reset your wireless router to its factory preset default settings:

  1. In the actual admin management panel, a tab named System or Factory Defaults would lead you to a button that would reset all the router settings to the initially set by the vendor ones. This includes resetting any custom security settings and admin password you have configured.

  2. If you for any reason do not have admin access to the web interface of your router, then the only option is to look for a tiny button on the device of the router which should be held pressed (usually with the help of a pencil) for a time interval of 10 to 15 seconds. That action will trigger the reset procedure which takes about 60 seconds, and leads to the device being restarted and reverted to its original configuration - IP settings, details, network names and such. Make sure to use the correct IP address, in this case,, to reconnect to the router after the reset. Remember, if multiple devices use the same IP address in your network, it can lead to IP address conflicts.
